~ About ~

I grew up in Virginia Beach, VA, one of the largest resort cities on the East Coast. Next door is Norfolk, VA and inside it exists the neighborhood of East Ocean View.

As  child, East Ocean View was known for it’s crime, prostitution and poverty. We never went to East Ocean View and even as an adult, it was avoided and often looked down upon by myself and many who knew of it.

In recent years, the area known as Ocean View has been experiencing a revitalization. Old homes have been removed, new homes have been built and this once busy beach town turned crime capital is now coming back to life.

I moved to East Ocean View with a bit of skepticism, but can’t help but enjoy the interesting and sometimes strange contrasts that exist here. Ever changing, it has a personality and uniqueness that intrigues me. Underneath the questionable history of East Ocean View, there is a distinct charm and comfort known only to those who live here.

I am dedicated to knowing all I can about East Ocean View and being a part of the revival of this once beautiful bay side paradise. This weblog will document stories, news, information, photos and more for East Ocean View and the City of Norfolk, VA.
