At about 11:15pm on July 25th, Norfolk police responded to a call about a shooting in the Ocean View area. They arrived in the 100 block of Balview Avenue to find 23 year old Dawan Floyd on the ground suffering from a gunshot. He died en route to a local hospital.
At first, Norfolk police had no leads and no motive in the case. In a recent development, Norfolk announced that 2 persons are now wanted.
Joshua Michael Daly, 20, and Tavon Lemar Pauley, also 20, are being sought as suspects in this latest Ocean View tragedy.
Daly has a tatoo on his upper right arm bearing the intials “GD”.
Pauley also has a tattoo on his right forearm that says “East New York”. His left forearm bears the word the word “Brooklyn”.
Both suspects are known to frequent the Ocean View neighborhood.

On July 15th, 2008, tragedy struck the beaches of Ocean View.
Mike Hogue, 50 , drowned early Tuesday afternoon. Mike was swimming with a friend when he disappeared into the rough waters. Friends and witnesses said it took 20-25 minutes before he was found.
Police initially received the call about a missing swimmer at about 5:16pm and responded to the location to begin a search. The victim, Mike Hogue of the 3300 block of East Ocean View Avenue was pulled from the water at 5:43pm.
Attempts were made by rescue workers and friends to revive him but it was too late. He was pronounced dead at DePaul Medical Center at 6:28pm. Mike leaves behind 2 children.
Mike was known to be a strong swimmer though friends mentioned that rough water and a cold medicine he was taking may have played a part in his drowning. Friend Tim Davis commented that the incident “builds a whole new respect for this water out here.”
The incident is under investigation.

Harry P. Erman, 79, was discovered dead at 10:30 am Sunday morning. Police initially received a call about a body floating in the Little Creek basin at 9:50 am.
Mr. Erman resided on a houseboat at the Marina on Pretty Lake Avenue in Norfolk, VA. The cause of death is undetermined, but police spokesperson Sgt. Jim Robertson did note that no trauma to the body was apparent. An investigation is underway.
